More detail:
2026-03-01: Let me introduce our lovable, somewhat goofy, VERY handsome Rexford! He is a 7 month old Lab mix and already weighs 70 pounds! And by the looks of his paws and gangly legs, we all agree he will be a big boy for sure when full grown! Rexford was surrendered by a family that didn't understand the needs of his lab spirit, and wound up leaving him in the backyard for most of his young life. They finally realized that he should be with a family that would give him the love, training and attention he deserves, and SCLRR stepped in to help. Despite it all, Rexford is a happy, sweet, goofy boy with soulful brown eyes and a big heart.

🎾 Rexford will want to chase tennis balls and wrestle with his foster brother first thing in the morning to release his morning burst of energy. After playtime he will settle down nicely so you can go about your morning - with him by your side! His foster mom takes him for a training walk around lunchtime to reinforce his basic commands, then another play session before dinner to burn off more of that puppy energy. His foster mom doesn't think he is high energy, he's just a growing puppy that just needs lots of exercise - both mental and physical, love & guidance to become his best self. Rexford likes to chase cats, so no cats for this boy unless they are very dog-savvy. He's a big puppy, so no small children please.

🎓 Great Learner: Rexford isn't just a pretty face; he is very smart. SCLRR sent Rexford to one week of basic training where he learned Sit, Stay, Down, Settle & Heal when walking. Rexford is potty trained, crate trained and sleeps silently thru the night. He is generally non-destructive in the home, but he will counter surf if you leave something delicious out! He loves treats, and takes them with a gentle mouth. He is still working on keeping 'Four On The Floor' when greeting people, so his new family will need to continue working on this.

🐾 Loyal & Devoted: Rexford is a loyal, affectionate lab who enjoys being near his people. He thrives on human connection and will happily place his paws (and sometimes his whole body) right in your lap to let you know he's there. And yes, you'll fall in love. He is a super sweet, happy, lovely boy. He likes belly rubs, ear scratches, and most of all just being with you. Rexford is very aware of his surroundings. He may bark at new or unexpected noises, but he redirects easily with reassurance (& treats 😀). In the home he has great instincts and likes to keep an eye on things in-between naps! He has a wonderful presence in the home. On walks, he is a great companion - walking well on leash while happily taking in the sights and smells around him. He is curious but doesn't react when meeting people & dogs along the way.

🏠 Ideal Home: Like many dogs who've had a lot of change in their life, he can feel a little anxious when left alone. He's currently working on building confidence with short departures and is making steady progress. Rexford will do best with a consistent routine and someone who is home often or enjoys including him in their daily activities. He is best suited for an active household that can give him the exercise, love and guidance he needs to become his best self. A family willing to guide this young, intelligent boy will be rewarded with a loving, loyal and attentive companion for life.
