2026-02-07: Meet Ethel Mae - Your Loyal, Loving Companion!

Ethel Mae is a 48 pound active 5-year-old yellow Labrador who is looking for a loving and consistent family. She bonds deeply with her person and happily follows her foster mom from room to room just to be nearby. If you're looking for a loyal shadow, great walking buddy, and best friend, Ethel Mae is your girl!

She is completely house-trained with no accidents, sleeps quietly through the night in her crate, and loves to go on walks. When left outside with her foster sibling, she simply relaxes and hangs out - no digging, no jumping, no mischief. She does bark if a stranger comes by or when you first get home, but settles down easily in the house.

Ethel Mae loves to play fetch with balls and toys and plays tug with her foster sister. She walks beautifully alongside her foster mom and pup and is a pleasure to take out. She will look back at her foster mom on the walk for approval! She doesn't react to other dogs or people on the walk. When meeting for the first time, she is a bit shy and may back away until she feels comfortable. It took a couple of days with her foster mom, then she was loving the head rubs! She goes to the sliding door when she needs to go potty. She has learned that her foster mom's closet is 'off limits' and waits patiently outside. We've been working on 'out of the kitchen', and it's a work in progress!

Ethel Mae can be a little shy at first and may need a bit of time to feel comfortable in new situations. With patience and love, her gentle, affectionate personality blossoms. She is very food motivated (which makes training fun and rewarding!) and would benefit from continued confidence-building and basic training. Like many Labs, she has been known to counter surf if tasty morsels are within reach- but she's eager to learn and wants to please.

She would do well as an only dog soaking up all the love, or with another friendly dog companion. We're not yet sure how she does with cats.

Ethel Mae is ready to find a forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and cherished. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal, playful companion with a tender heart, Ethel Mae may be your perfect match!
