2022-06-22: Hello there! My name is Duke Boy and I am an 11-month old white Lab mix. I am on the petite size as I weight only 66 lbs. I have beautiful, soulful eyes that reflect my deeply loving, attachment personality.

My foster mom says that I am extremely smart and learning quickly. I had some informal training sessions and I did very well. My new family should continue my training. I am food motivated so I would do anything you ask me to for a treat. I already know a few basic obedience commands: sit, down, off and I sometimes go to my bed when I am told to. I am crate trained but I would want to be with you when you are at home. Truth is, I would rather be ON you, if you want! I am very affectionate and want to be close to you. Boundaries are NOT my thing. But I can learn if I get too much in your space. If you want a cuddle-bug, I may well be your guy. I am also house trained. I love my toys and bouncy balls. I looove to play fetch and I am learning to bring the toy back and drop. I love to chew and usually only chew my toys. If I forget, I am easily redirected.

I would prefer to go to an active family that will exercise me regularly. I love going out for walks or hikes. I would make a great jogging partner. I have some leash manners and I am used to being walked with an Easy Walk harness. I am sometimes very ‘vocal’ to other dogs walking by…I can jump really high and bark super loud so they don’t miss me on the trail! I am learning to be more polite but this will take consistent work. I would make a perfect companion and playmate for another dog. Once I have my exercise for the day, I will settle really well in the house.

I am friendly with kids but I shouldn’t be adopted by a family with children as I am just learning how to be less mouthy. We are working to correct that and I am getting better every day, but it’s my way of showing love. Also, I get the zoomies and run REALLY fast around the yard. My foster family and their guests know to move out of my way and make sure I have a safe path to zip around. It only lasts for a bit and then I settle in for snuggles or a nap. One habit we’re trying to break is that I love to tip my water dish. It’s so much fun! Especially if you’ve just filled it… My foster parents know I’ll overcome this and have a waterproof mat down to protect my floor.

My foster mom says that I am really sweet and I truly love my people. I am still young and need to learn some manners but hey I am still a puppy! I am super cute, what more would you need? I just need another chance to be happy and make my new family happy too. My foster family adores me and know you will as well. If you can give me a new home, please contact your family rep.
