Hello, my name is Freddy Joy, I am an 11 year old male black Lab. SCLRR rescued me from a local shelter. I do have quite a story to tell! I came from a neglect situation, and I was severely underweight. The day I arrived at my new foster home I thought my stomach will explode. Turns out I got bloated and my stomach twisted. I almost died, so I had to have emergency surgery. The good news are they also sutured my stomach to the body wall, to prevent it from twisting again in the future. A few days later, I got pancreatitis and refused to eat for a week. I was on multiple fluids and IV and after a week I recovered and started slowly to eat. I almost died again, you could say SCLRR saved me 3 times!!! I am low key, super sweet and such a good boy! I love pets, chin scratches and giving kisses. I walk great on a leash for very short walks. I love all people that I meet. I mostly ignore other dogs, I don't like young energetic dogs in my face. I do not live with a cat, but foster Mom thinks I would ignore one if it left me alone. I don't chew, dig or bark. Even though I lived outside before, I am house trained. I'm a little guy (56 pounds-need to gain some more) but gaining weight slowly. Because I had pancreatitis, the vet recommends that I eat low fat food for the rest of my life. I am good at stay, but don't sit well - it might be because my back legs hurt. I can lay-but I am stubborn about it! I have no idea how to play. I have some arthritis, so I need joint supplements, an anti-inflammatory/pain medicine Galliprant, and ideally a one story house. I startle easily, so no small kids around me. I love to go in my crate to rest, but I don't like when the door is locked at night. If you are ready to love me the way I am, be loved back and give me a safe loving home in my senior years, please contact your family rep! If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home. |
