More detail:
2019-12-14: Kickin Cowboy is a beautiful cream colored lab. And he is all Labrador, Handsome, Playful, and very Smart. He is two years old, healthy, neutered, up to date on shots, dewormed and microchipped.

Kickin Cowboy will be loyal to members of the family who spends the most time with him. He would do best with someone who can spend a lot of quality time with him and who has experience with smart, young, active, strong, large-breed dogs in the past. Kickin Cowboy loves playing with other dogs and would do best with a dog that is his size (75 pounds or larger) and is very confident, settled and obedient to help show Kickin Cowboy how to be a great dog. Kickin Cowboy loves to do zoomies and romp in large yards - he has a lot of energy to get out.

Kickin Cowboy was not treated well in his former home and as a result he has some bad habits that will need to be worked through. At times he might demand bark, jump on people, play 'you can't catch me', steal things off the counters and basically act like a 75 pound puppy. This is because his former owners confined him a lot and he does not know how to properly cope with his freedom he gets a little wild at times. He will learn how to manage freedom in time, but his new home needs to have the utmost of patience, be confident in their dog training skills and have the time to work with him.

We would like a family that will be committed to getting Kickin Cowboy into a sport such as agility since this will part of his training rehabilitation. He is not a dog that will be happy being alone for 8 plus hours, he needs a more consistent companion such as someone who works from home or part-time. Kickin Cowboy also needs regular exercise such as running with people/bicycle or other higher endurance activity. He will not be the dog that settles for a few throws of the ball in the backyard and then curl up on the couch for the night.

Kickin Cowboy is not cat aggressive, but because he requires a lot of training, we do not want to place him with small dogs or cats because it is just one more thing to monitor him with as he is juvenile and rough at times.

Kickin Cowboy's first love will be you - he is very people focused and wants your attention quite a bit and will try antics to get your attention. Kickin Cowboy is submissive in nature and given his actions, we suspect his prior male owner was physical with him. It is clear that Kickin Cowboy is still learning to fully trust people when he thinks you are mad at him, hence the 'catch-me-if-you-can' game.

We do not recommend a home with small children as he is too puppy and rambunctious at times. He also needs more attention and young children will compete for the time he needs to get properly acclimated to the home. Kickin Cowboy loves car rides and will be the dog that you can take anywhere with lots of socialization and training. He is great in a crate and can be left alone in a home for short periods, but we recommend crating for a few weeks before trying this.
