More detail:
2024-12-13: Hello my name is Tank Boy and I am looking for a forever home. I am a handsome young fella at 2 years and I weigh 77 lbs. I am completely housetrained, crate trained and use a doggie door. My foster family says I am a toddler - I like to have my toys all over the house, I pick up any shoes, hats, pillows, anything you leave around the house I will find! I like carrying a toy in my mouth when I am happy. If you leave some food around, I will make sure I will clean up for you, no problem for me.

I do understand 'NO' and I am very eager to please but I have a short attention span so sometimes I need reminders. I can sit and lay down on command, stay too (but don't make me do it too long). I have been going on walks and hikes with my foster family, I could use more help with pulling on leash at times but I am learning. I get really excited when I see other dogs and people because I would like to greet them all. I am strong and I pull hard when we meet other dogs or people but walk nicely otherwise. I would need a strong handler.

I like to play with other dogs, I am a social butterfly. I make toys explode sometimes but I also settle down nicely for my beauty naps. I like to ride in the car so if you are a traveler I am good with that.

I think I would like the most to be in a home with another dog, either big or small, just someone who would like to play with me sometimes. I have been living with cats in the past and I wanted to play with them, but they don't want to play with me and then they scared me.

I would need a family to continue to work with me on my manners as I am still very young. I promise I will make the best companion ever. I am great with kids but because of my enthusiasm, I might knock them down so older kids (10+) are preferred.

I do not like swimming at all and I am quite afraid of even being near a pool or a lake. I could probably learn in time but for now it is a no go.

Now my foster mom says she has something important to share with everyone: 'Tank was adopted several months ago then returned for having elbow dysplasia and family not affording his care. We had consulted with an orthopedic surgeon and he had elbow surgery - arthroscopy - where they removed some bone fragments from his elbows. They noticed he already had some arthritis in his elbows. He has been through 6 weeks of semi-confinement and rehab post this surgery. After the 6 weeks, he was cleared to return to normal activity and the surgeon said he needs an active family to thrive. His life should include walking and hiking (nothing too hard or strenuous). Exercise will help him live a healthier life, he cannot be a couch potato dog so he must have an active family. He will have to stay on joint supplements all of his life - Yumove and Omega 3 Green Lipped Mussels would be ideal (cost is around $100/month). It is very important to keep him at a good weight (ideally 75 lbs, he is 77 lbs now), keep up with low impact exercise (long walks, hikes) and avoid hard impact exercise like playing ball, chase, zoomies, and jumping up and down rocks or something similar. He should be assisted while coming out of the car with a ramp or at least hold him by his harness. No additional meds are needed at this point and only give him anti-inflammatories (NSAID) if he has a flare, which is possible if he overdoes it. Because elbow dysplasia causes chronic inflammation of the elbow joint, it could be helpful to keep him on an anti-inflammatory diet like raw food (he is on it already).

He should live in a house without too many stairs. He can definitely do stairs, it is just not beneficial for him to have to do them daily. '
