2019-09-18: Hi, my name is Gertie, I'm around 10 years young and I am so happy to have found SCLRR. You see, when I found SCLRR I weighed 116 lbs and was very sad and slow because I was so severely overweight. I did not move well and just lay around most of the time. But with some tender loving care and lots of walks with my foster mom, I'm now a much healthier 82 lbs and might even be younger than they originally thought. I've lost 30+ lbs and now feel like the happy and energetic dog I'm supposed to be. I love playing with my squeaky toys, going on walks (I still enjoy taking my time), and especially love going on car rides! I am a perfect lady in the house but I do like to be around my people and would love to have a furever home where I can go along on outings or to work and don't always have to be left behind. Don't understand me wrong - I am perfectly fine being left alone in the house as my current foster mom works full time. I need to be in a home where I will continue to get my exercise and proper food so that I can continue to get to my goal weight. Being in my senior years, I am a bit set in my ways and would prefer to be the only dog in the household so I can get all the attention to myself. I haven't had direct contact with cats, but am curious about them when we pass them in the neighborhood, but it's the squirrels that really make me go crazy, I love to stalk them and sometimes I think I really can climb trees too! I've been to the beach but wasn't too fond of the water and didn't care to get in. I like finding a cozy spot on the sofa when I'm home alone but only do that when you're not around, I otherwise know my manners. I know how to use a doggie door and only bark or whine when I hear other dogs or squirrels outside. I patiently wait for breakfast and dinner time and will wait for you to get out of bed, so really I'm quite an easy girl and just want you to love me.
