More detail:
2015-02-07: Gerry is a 5 year old, 90 lb., gorgeous Chocolate Lab mix. His two-tone tuxedo coat adds to his character.

Naturally, Gerry is a lower energy dog who is a slower moving kind of dude.

In his prior home, Gerry lived with cats and is cat tolerant. He walks very nice on the leash. A walk a day seems to be plenty for Gerry as he really prefers to be an indoor dog with you. Gerry is a very good friend to all the dogs. I think having a dog buddy is a nice bonus in his next home, though it's not required, as his people are very important to him. And he loves being by your side.

Gerry does well alone during the day especially if you are at work all day or gone for parts of the day. He loves the extra loving and one-on-one time.

Gerry crates beautifully and is often times found hanging out in his crate without being asked. If you are not crate trained, no problem! Gerry will train you himself. It's a great trait that he knows how to chill in the house.

Somewhere in his past, Gerry may have been mistreated and he prefers to meet strangers with a slow introduction. If you've had that dog before, you know then that they overcome all things tentative with love, consistency, reassurance and treats! Gerry would do best in a quieter home OR with an experienced dog family that will grow with Gerry and teach him how to move on and be comfortable with intros.

Gerry is very sweet and will try to lap dog YOU as much as possible. Rubs and kisses are his favorite so if you have some of those he is ready for them! He is basically a big baby and often times gives puppy eyes when he has to take a stern correction. He responds well to compassionate voices and knows what he has to do.

Another awesome thing about Gerry, is that he is trustworthy when left to roam free in the home; however, he is still a Lab with an appetite so food left around may fall victim to his chops. Tidy trashcans or ones with a cover are a plus.

Gerry has proven to be a wonderful foster mate and family member, but he deserves his forever home so if Gerry's calm energy, loyal behavior and beautiful physique strikes your fancy, please reach out to your SCLRR family rep.
