ADOPTION APPLICATION

Adoption Application

Please check Areas We Serve BEFORE you continue with the application process, so that you don't try to complete this application only to find that we cannot accept it. We do not place dogs outside of the areas we serve in Southern California, and absolutely no Out-of-State adoptions.

Currently, we serve most of Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, and the cities of Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Victorville, Apple Valley and Hesperia in San Bernardino County---dependent on volunteer availability.

Sorry, but SCLRR is unable to accept applications from residents of Riverside, San Diego, Kern, or San Luis Obispo Counties, nor from Central California, Northern California, or Out-of-State residents. For more information, including a list of Lab Rescue groups that operate in areas in which we do not, please see our Areas We Serve page. Please also see SCLRR Adoption — How It Works to learn about our adoption process and whether it will coincide with your family's needs.

The answers you give on this application will help us to find the best possible match between you and the Labradors available through SCLRR if you are approved for adoption. Please carefully enter your 5 digit home zip code. Please include area codes with all phone numbers. If your application is not accepted into our system because of the zip code you entered for your home, please contact us before going any further to see if we serve the area where you live. One of our volunteers will contact you shortly after we receive your inquiry and, if you do live in an area that we serve, our volunteer will advise you how to submit your application. Please do not enter an incorrect zip code to get your application accepted into our system.

Please give us ten working days before you call us again and be sure to mention that you've sent us the filled out form.

We charge adoption fees for our foster dogs to help cover aggregate costs of caring for all the dogs; the fee is payable at the time of adoption. Our current adoption fees are $350 for dogs up to age six years, $150 for dogs seven years and older.

No therapy, service or emotional support dogs. We are very sorry but we cannot accept applications from individuals, families or organizations seeking a Lab that would be ANY type of therapy, service or emotional support dog, nor do we accept applications from group homes or other institutional settings. We expect of our Labs only to be family pets/companion animals.

Puppies? SCLRR very rarely has puppies under age 6 months in need of new homes. For that reason, we accept applications from families or individuals looking to adopt a puppy ONLY when we have puppies available for adoption. Please check our Available Labs page BEFORE APPLYING to adopt a puppy from SCLRR. In general, the best place to find a puppy to add to your family is your local animal shelter.

IMPORTANT: Before clicking 'Submit' at the bottom of this form, please DOUBLE CHECK to see that the email address you entered is perfectly correct. A typographical error in your email address will prevent your adoption application from being processed. Once you have reviewed all your entries, click 'Submit' below; you will then receive an email message CONTAINING THE PRINTABLE COPY of your application. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A COPY OF YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION IN YOUR EMAIL INBOX WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF CLICKING 'SUBMIT,' PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER; many families have found their applications there!

PRINT OUT the finished version of your application THAT ARRIVES AT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, SIGN it on the last page, and mail ALL the pages to us along with your $20 check or money order, made payable to "SCLRR," as a nonrefundable application fee (if you rent your home, you'll also need to include written landlord permission to have a large dog). Please do NOT email us your application nor print out a copy of the form below---you must print out only the version that you will receive by email, sign that hard copy and then mail it to our Torrance address along with your application fee check or money order(and landlord permission, if applicable). Please do not send cash. Please know that your application fee helps provide financial support for our work of rescuing the Labs.

If for some reason you can't use this form, call us at 888-554-ALAB.

Again, at this time, we serve most of Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, and the cities of Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Victorville, Apple Valley and Hesperia in San Bernardino County---dependent on volunteer availability. SCLRR is unable to accept applications from residents of Riverside, San Diego, Kern, or San Luis Obispo Counties, nor from Central California, Northern California, or Out-of-State residents.
