Lab In Need: Beegee

Beegee

2010-01-21: Little Beegee, a five year old black Lab, came to us from the Kern County shelter system. SCLRR has started to help the dogs up in Kern and bring them to SoCal for fostering. Beegee was a surprise because no one told SCLRR that she was two weeks from giving birth! We had to scramble to say the least to find a foster to whelp Beegee and the puppies. Luckily we had a new volunteer sign up and she was elated at the opportunity to take Beegee into her home.

Beegee is one lucky girl to have SCLRR's care and attention. She gave birth to her puppies a few days ago and they will be with us for another 12 weeks. Beegee had 7 puppies and sadly we lost one, but the remaining 6 are extremely healthy. We have welcomed Beegee into SCLRR with open arms and we know her puppies and Beegee are going to have a wonderful life!!!! Here are some newbie pictures to enjoy!

2/17/10 update - Beegee's puppies continue to grow and are very healthy and social little tykes! She is a great mom and a wonderful teacher for her puppies. They are getting 15 minute play intervals in the grass now and just love it!! The pups will be ready to be placed near the date of April 11th. They are going to get that extremely important socialization time from 8 to 12 weeks which is where many pups miss out because of the fear of parvo exposure. These pups will be extremely happy and well balanced members of their new packs with all this socialization and training.
