There are several different resources available to you to help find your new Labrador retriever!
- SCLRR Foster Dogs — SCLRR's dogs are fostered for a minimum of a week to evaluate their social behaviors, try to uncover if there is any aggression of any kind, their level of training and determine what sort of family they would work best in. We make sure all the vet care has been obtained and they are on their way to a full recovery before they leave SCLRR. Every foster is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, free of fleas/ticks and microchipped. Please make sure you check the areas we serve before applying for one of the foster dogs. Please note that we only show the dogs on the website that are available for adoption. We have many Labs in various stages that are in our program, but are not yet posted on our website. Please check out SCLRR Adoption — just how it works to learn more about getting approved for a foster dog.
- Owner Listed Dogs — There are owners who wish to place their dogs, but need help in finding suitable families. We refer only SCLRR-approved families to the owners of these dogs. The owner has complete control of the adoption and will choose the family they are comfortable with. SCLRR's adoption fee does not apply to these dogs as this is a third party contract between the owner and the adopters. We are a matchmaker only with these dog adoptions. Sometimes a volunteer is available to evaluate these dogs and sometimes it is not possible. Please remember that you will need an approved homecheck in order to get the owner's contact info.
- Courtesy Listings — As a courtesy to other agencies or individuals, private or public, who wish to place Labradors in new homes, we have a "courtesy" list. This includes dogs at shelters, as well as dogs found by individuals willing to do the rescue themselves. This list includes only that information that has been provided to us. SCLRR cannot vouch for its accuracy, nor does it participate in any way in adoptions resulting from these listings.
- Shelter Listings — We provide a way for people to advertise Labs on our website to further their chances for adoptions in the various shelters. Sometimes our volunteers have visited these dogs and sometimes we have not. You would need to visit the shelter to see if the dog is a potential match. You can also check out this list of Southern California animal shelters or SCLRR's shelter list to look for a dog.
