Available Labs

Welcome to our website! We are an incorporated non-profit organization located in Southern California with federal tax exempt status as described under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). We have been in operation since the beginning of 1998.

We take in and foster or kennel dogs on a limited basis. We also offer a referral system, whereby folks wishing to adopt Labrador Retrievers, or wishing to place them, may utilize our referral list. You can find several lists of available Labradors: our fostered Labs, and Labs in shelters, in private homes and with other rescue groups.

Lab of the Month:
Shelby5

If you are interested in adopting through SCLRR, please see our adoption page. We have also compiled a list of tips for those thinking about adopting a Labrador. Plus our online scrapbook and a display of dogs adopted this month are here for your enjoyment!

If you are moving and having difficulty finding housing that will accomodate your Lab, please see our Pet Friendly Rentals Resource Page before you consider giving up your dog.

If you are interested in placing your Labrador retriever with SCLRR assistance, please see our Owner's dog listing page. We cannot always help you place Labrador Retriever mixes, as our mission involves purebred Labrador Retrievers. Please consult Petfinders, Save-A-Pet, or similar sites or organizations that handle mixed breeds. Also, the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation is looking for prospective dogs right now!

If you live in the southern California area and would like to volunteer to help, we'd love to hear from you. You can email us, or if necessary you can call our message line (toll free) at 888-554-ALAB.

Please note that we operate only in Southern California and are at present active only in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. We do not place dogs outside of Southern California, as we prefer to interview potential adoptive families and check up on the adoption within the following year through actual home visits.

Here are some happy SCLRR
Labs with their new families!
